What is a prepaid card?

Stay connected with friends, family, and colleagues around the world at cheaper rates, with a Hippocom prepaid Calling Card. With a prepaid calling card, you pay for the calling time in advance and reduce the prepaid balance as you make calls.

Why would I want a prepaid card?

With a Hippocom prepaid Calling Card you have the ability to dial a local number to our gateway, and from there we route your call over the internet at the cheaper rate to the destination required.

Why should I buy a phone card from Hippocom?

Is there a connection charge?

We do not charge a connection fee. However when dialing your local gateway you are subjected to the “Local charge” imposed by you service provider. So if you are calling the Durban access number from within Durban you will be charged R0.38 per minute mon-fri 7am-7pm and R0.16 per min all other times including weekends. This charge will appear on your normal telephone bill and is charged for the duration of your call.

Where are the gateways located?

Kloof & Hillcrest: All customers within the 031 dialing code and all Pietermaritzburg customers are charged local call rates to connect to these gateways.

Port Shepstone: All customers located within the greater Port Shepstone area are charged local call rates to connect to this gateway

What are the billing increments?

Our low rates are divided into 1 minute increments. This means that you are billed for every minute, so you only pay for the amount of time that you talk.

How do I use my Hippocom Calling Card?

  1. Dial your Local access number listed on the card.
  2. When prompted, enter your User ID, followed by the “#” Key.
  3. When prompted, enter your Password, followed by the “#” Key.
  4. When prompted, enter the number you want to connect to, followed by the “#” Key.
